About This Site

This website started out as an ecommerce site to sell my lampwork beads but a severe back injury made production beadmaking impossible for a while so I turned it into a place where other lampworkers can be featured and promote their art. I have noticed that it is hard for many artists to promote their own work. There are many reasons for this: modesty, lack of technical expertise, the confusing and ever-changing world of website/auction promotion. However, self-promotion is critical to the artist's success. It's one thing to make something beautiful, it's quite another to get people to notice it. :)

If you sell on eBay or Etsy, I will see your work. If I think they are interesting, fun, or particularly well done, they will show up here as well. You don't need to do anything special, although you are welcome to submit your website or event as well. My subscribers are serious beaders who rely on my posts to help them find new talent, hidden bargains, and the best lampwork beads around. If I have posted links to your work here and you want it removed for some reason, just email me.

Handmade lampwork beads are a colorful way to add unique design elements to your jewelry and art projects. Glass beadmaking is a rapidly emerging art. There are many different lampwork bead artists providing these unique and wonderful glass art beads. Each bead is a unique piece of glass art. There is an enormous quality difference between artist-made lampwork beads and those made in bulk. If you want exceptional beads for your jewelry designs or arts and crafts projects, look for beads made by a self-representing artist.

Sincerely,

Jo

UPDATE:  I am selling my beads again, although I still can't make many.  You can find my beads along with many other fun items from some of my neighboring artists at the Greymalkin Gallery.
